CONTRIBUTING TO SAFETY
We remain steadfast in our dedication to handcraft windowcoverings that meet or exceed current safety guidelines as prescribed by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and The Window Covering Manufacturers Association (WCMA). We are committed to conducting ongoing testing of our windowcoverings to ensure that they are safe to operate. We continually strive to research and engineer innovative solutions and techniques to further improve shade safety.
SAFETY TESTING
We test to ensure our shades exceed current safety guidelines. We have designed and built state-of-the-art testing equipment, including a Hazardous Loop Test Head Probe and Stand Assembly that are used to test the formation of loops. This testing process helps us develop standards for crafting our products within ANSI guidelines.
CONTRIBUTING TO HEALTH
We choose to cultivate, harvest, prepare, and weave natural fibers using ancient tools and techniques in part because they minimize the use of harsh additives that may off-gas and reduce indoor air quality. This includes using natural techniques to achieve rich color tones and using low or no VOC paints, stains and adhesives whenever possible. As a result, our shades have a minimal impact on air quality within an interior environment.
Rollerfold™ Style – Eliminating shade-body operational cords, this award-winning style combines the aesthetic beauty of a roman-fold shade with the sleek performance of a Roller Style Shade.
Cordless Rollershade – An innovative, cord-free shade that operates by a smooth and silent spring system for spaces soliciting a cord-free choice.
Shade Automation – Eliminating all pull-cords, shade automation is the ultimate in safe, intelligent, and effortless shade functionality.
A non-invasive cord that attaches to a shade’s rear pull-cords, preventing them from being drawn into a loop large enough to endanger children and pets.
This device helps shorten cords, keeping them out of the reach of children or small pets, as well as keeping them taut to ensure a loop cannot be made.
A device used to keep cord loops taut by holding the operational cord or chain in place ensuring a large loop cannot be created. We ship this device in a manner that makes the system inoperable unless it is properly installed.
Our warning labels and hang-tag booklets reiterate the potential hazards of corded windowcoverings. The labels are designed to increase awareness of the safety features of all HARTMANN&FORBES shades.
